Lightening the feel of his dramatic MA Graduate collection, Derek Lawlor’s debut Spring Summer 2010 collection continued with the same graphic appeal combined with second skin flexibility. The wax cord embellished dresses that had first gained him attention were still present but this time with some more wearable separates included making his collection more versatile.

The monochrome colour palette remained and the bespoke outfits were sent down the runway perfectly with Manolo Blahnik shoes. For SS10 Lawlor, together with his signature spiral discs patterns, introduced wax cord knots and embedded cord within skirts which from a distance look like prints but only when closer you can recognise the woven cord technique and true craftsmanship within each separate creation.
